HEMITATE

Hematite Powder is a weighting material .It is used to increase the density of drilling fluids to control formation pressures having a specific gravity of 4.85 and can be used to increase the density in oil‐and water‐based drilling fluids up to25 lb/gal (3.0 SG). It has a higher specific gravity than barite, and so requires less total product to achieve the same fluid density, but tends to be more abrasive than other weighting materials.
